William Steel Thompson

Steel Thompson passed away in San Antonio, Texas on December 9, 2022 at the age of 57 years old.  He was born in Ruidoso, New Mexico on April 21, 1965 to parents Mary Skip King and William Anson Thompson.   He was a longtime resident of San Antonio and a former resident of New Mexico. Steel was a jack of all trades, but one of his lifetime passions led him to the racetrack where he devoted a large portion of his life to the track and horses that he loved.

Steel was preceded in death by his father, William Anson Thompson and his sister Rhonda Jo Thompson.  He is survived by his mother, Mary “Skip” King of San Antonio,Texas and his loving girlfriend, Chely Garza of San Antonio Texas.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Marcie Ann Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Billy Wayne Thompson of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and William Anson Thompson Jr of Lubbock, Texas as well as his cousins, Wanda Reid of Floresville, Texas, Justin Steenken of Floresville, Texas, Lynda Bonnano of Maryland, Helen Sturgis and husband Ron of Minnesota, and George Ouellette of New Mexico.  Steel will also be forever cherished by numerous cousins, family, and racetrack friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday December 30, 2022 at Franklin Funeral Home at 6:30 pm.  The Thompson family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and beautifully shared memories of Steel.
