Wallace Darrel Dundas, lovingly known as Darrel, passed away on March 16, 2026 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 89. He was born on June 28, 1936 in Lincoln, Missouri to loving parents, Doris & Wallace Dundas.
Darrel was a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, though his years of military service carried him to many places across the country. One of the most meaningful chapters of his life was spent in Hawaii, where he lived while beginning his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain—a role he carried with great honor and dedication.
A man of deep faith, Darrel was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Floresville, where he generously shared his musical talents with his church family. Music was a lifelong passion, and he found great joy in playing the guitar and uplifting others through song. He will be remembered as a good man who lived a full and meaningful life, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Wallace Dundas; his former wives, Melanie Dundas and Sarah Dundas; his daughter, Crystal Dundas; and his step-son, Mark Lively.
He is survived by his children, Darla Hightower and her husband Tim, and Kenny Dundas. He is also survived by his step-children, Pam Lively, Mike Lively, Paul Lively, Meredith Thompson, PhD (JL Needham), and Laura Siegel (Peter). He leaves behind his grandchildren, Dallas Hightower and Dylan Hightower and his step-grandchildren, Jamie Siegel, John Ferguson III, and Ian Ferguson. Darrel will be truly missed by his siblings, Charles Dundas and Dennis Dundas (Lois), his former wife, Judith Andreolli, along with numerous nieces, nephews, church family, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held on April 8, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Floresville, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place later that day at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Darrel’s honor to the First Baptist Church of Floresville or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Darrel’s life was one of service, faith, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
