Vernon “V.J.” Brown

Vernon Joel Brown, Jr. "V.J." passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Portland, Texas at the age of 64 years 11 months. He was born on November 19, 1958 in Mount Holly, New Jersey to Vernon J. Sr. & Barbara Saxon Brown. VJ was a resident of Portland for 2 years and a former resident of Floresville. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and was currently a tour guide for the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi.

VJ is survived by his Wife, Janie Saldivar Brown of Portland; Parents, Vernon J., Sr. & Barbara Brown, of Floresville; Children, Robbie & wife, Lauren Brown of Willis, Tx., Dan & wife, Kim Key of Port Lavaca; Step-Children, Joshua Vento & Dustin Vento of McAllen; Brother, Arthur & wife, Judy Brown of San Antonio; Grandchildren, Bridget & Logan Brown of Willis; numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. in Franklin Funeral Home and also at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in Franklin Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Floresville Masonic Cemetery.
