Sylvia Irene DeAlba Garcia, lovingly known as “Mama Lita” passed into the loving arms of the Lord on August 8, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to loving parents, John & Hope DeAlba on August 30, 1953 in Blue Island, Illinois. Sylvia was a longtime resident of Illinois, but she was also proud to call Wisconsin, North Carolina and Pennsylvania home. She then lived her final years in Floresville, Texas where she retired with the love of her life, Ramiro Garcia. Sylvia was also a woman of Faith and proud member of the Catholic Church.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, John & Hope DeAlba; siblings, Pedro DeAlba and Christina Mendoza; and her nephew, Matthew Mendoza. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ramiro “Poppy” Garcia, and her children, Toni Garcia Navarrete & Gabriel “Gabe” Garcia. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Esperanza “Cha-Cha” Stine & Antonia “Annie” Rash and her great-grandchildren, Peyton Stine, Ronnie Mills, Westley Garcia, Paizleigh “Little Miss Piggy” Stine, Rosa Noguez, and Serenity Noguez. Sylvia will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Brian DeAlba, Jason DeAlba, and Maria Mendoza as well as by numerous friends and family.
A visitation will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Franklin Funeral Home and a Rosary will be recited at 11:30 am. A funeral mass will be held in Illinois at a later date.
