Obituary

Rusty Chad Dean passed away on October 1, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 41. He was born on October 4, 1984, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Michelle and Charlie Dean. Having lived throughout the Southwest over the years, Rusty made his home in Floresville, Texas, with his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Elise.

Rusty was a man of many hats and seemingly endless abilities. He was happiest working with his hands and had a knack for figuring out how things worked, fixing what was broken, and tackling just about anything put in front of him. Cars were a particular passion, and Rusty could often be found working on one project or another, with an ever-growing collection of parts to prove it. A Mopar man through and through, his philosophy was simple: “Mopar or No Car.” Rusty was also a proud member of IBEW Local 60. Whether he was working on a car, helping with a project, or lending his skills to someone who needed them, Rusty was someone people knew they could count on.

More than anything, Rusty was an immensely kind and caring man. He believed that what was right was right, and he lived his life with that principle quietly guiding him. He regularly went out of his way to help others, often through small acts of kindness that meant more than he realized. In the days surrounding his passing, his family has been deeply touched to discover just how far that kindness reached. Rusty likely never realized how many lives he had touched, but the outpouring of love for him has made it abundantly clear just how many people were fortunate to know him.

Rusty was a devoted husband and beloved father, and his family was at the heart of his whole world. He was a loving friend, brother, and son-in-law, always showing those around him how much he cared. Those who knew Rusty knew they could depend on him when it mattered most.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Michelle and Charlie Dean. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Dean, and their beautiful daughter, Elise Dean. He is also survived by his siblings, Jamie Dean, LaShawna Jones and husband Cory, and Hope Sellers and husband Brian, along with numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, extended family, and many friends who will carry his memory with them.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Franklin Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 pm.
