Ruben Sanchez

Ruben Sanchez, lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the age of 69.

Ruben was born December 9, 1952, in Poth, Texas, the son of Tiodoro and Maria Garcia Sanchez.  He attended Poth Schools and served in The United States Army.  He worked for many years at Banana Distributing Co. as a bookkeeper, Sides Supply and Southern Folger Detention Equipment Company.

Ruben was the heart of his children, wife and family.  He was known for his wit, his affectionate nicknames for anyone and everyone, a storyteller, a master at his puzzles, his love for baseball and Texas Longhorns football, but most of all, his love for his family, friends, and community.  He loved all his little kids so.  The world has lost a great, great man.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Tiodoro & Maria Sanchez; his brothers, Antonio G. Sanchez & Albert Sanchez Sr.; his in laws, Johnny and Felis Reyna, and his nephews, Marcos Sanchez & Alejandro Ray Maximo Sanchez.  Ruben is survived by his wife of 33 years, Felicia Sanchez of Poth; his children, Melissa Sanchez Meneses and husband Michael Meneses Jr., Melanie Sanchez and husband Rick De La Garza, Marisol Ramirez and husband Eric Ramirez, Ruben Jason Sanchez and partner Marisa Martinez, Cynthia Torres and husband Julian Torres, and Richard Franco; his grandchildren, Richard, Adrian, Noah & Brian Longoria, Michael & Judith Garza, Aiden De La Garza, Alyssa, Logan & Lana Ramirez, Jagger Joaquin, Reagan Juliette, Penelope Leontine & J. Vincent Sanchez, Veronica Rodriguez and husband Jesse Rodriguez, Julian Torres Jr., Casey & Leona Franco, and Ashlynn, Allyson & Amery Meneses; his great-grandchildren, Peyton Ryan & Samuel Angel Longoria, Robert Salinas Jr., and one on the way, already nicknamed by Papo, Ducky; his siblings, Elena & Camilo Montoya Jr., Estella & Evaristo Garcia, Otillia & Henry Montez, Ophelia & Erasmo Flores, Richard & Pauline Sanchez, and sister in law, Linda Flores Sanchez, numerous nieces & nephews and many friends and family.

A visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, Texas on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 9:00 am and will be followed by a rosary at 10:30am.  The funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am and interment will follow at the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery.

Reception to follow at Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall.  All are welcome.
