Ruben
Guerra
January 13, 1965 – March 20, 2026
Ruben Guerra, born January 13, 1965, in Robstown, Texas, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Floresville, Texas at the age 61, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Over the years, Ruben made his way across Texas, from Corpus Christi to Houston, but Saspamco, Texas was the place he called home.
Ruben was truly one of a kind. He had a witty sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes, always ready with a joke or a prank when you least expected it. He loved making people laugh and brought a kind of energy into the room that you just can’t replace. He had a way of turning his ideas into something real, always finding a way to make things work. There wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out, and if there was, he would find a way to make it work.
He loved his family and any excuse to have everyone together. Some of the best moments were just being together, whether it was outside, around the grill, or laughing over something he said or did. Whether he was cooking, joking around, or coming up with one of his ideas, he made everyday moments feel memorable. You never really knew what he was going to say or do next, but you always knew it would make you laugh or leave you shaking your head.
Ruben was a strong man and a true fighter. No matter what he was facing, he never gave up. Even through his illness, he continued to fight with strength and determination, always showing up for the people he loved. His resilience and courage were an inspiration to everyone around him.
Ruben was a true jack of all trades who could fix just about anything he set his hands to. He gave his best to everyone he encountered and was known for his kindness and willingness to help others. He had a gift for storytelling and was always ready with a tall tale that would leave those around him smiling. Ruben had a love for learning and enjoyed spending time reading, always seeking to expand his knowledge. Above all, he was a devoted husband and a proud father, and his family was the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his mother Maria Anita De Anda, step-father Tubricio “Butch” DeAnda, mother in law Micaela “Miki” Escobar, and his grandparents Martin and Juanita Ballin.
Ruben was a devoted husband to Michele Guerra, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, resilience, and unconditional love. He was a proud father to Melissa (Benjamin) Cerna and Kevin (Abigail) Guerra, and a loving grandfather to Aaron Cerna, Jacob Cerna, Derek Guerra, and Ilyana Guerra. He is also survived by his brother in law Ricardo (Barbara) Escobar, sister in law Jennifer Escobar, niece Alajandra Escobar, and nephews Martin Escobar and Jaxon Escobar. He also leaves behind numerous tias, tios, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.
