Rodolfo “Rudy” D. Mungia passed into eternal rest on March 21, 2026 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 76. He was born on July 25, 1949 in Floresville, Texas to loving parents, Beatrice De La Zerda and Manuel A. Mungia. A lifelong resident of Floresville, Rudy was a familiar and beloved presence in the community, where he spent many years behind the butcher counter at Bauman’s Grocery Store, always ready with a smile and a friendly word. He was a simple man who worked hard for those he loved, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching his Reskins, playing bingo, and trying his luck at the casinos.

Rudy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary Cantu Mungia; his parents, Beatrice and Manuel Mungia; and his brother, Manuel “Sonny” Mungia. He is survived by his son, Rudy Mungia (Arlene), who carries forward his legacy with love and pride. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Lukas and Lailah “Chickie” Mungia, who brought him endless joy. Rudy will be deeply missed by his sister, Margaret M. Talamantez, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and his loyal pet, Marley. He will be remembered fondly by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2026, at the Beer Warehouse (1302 2nd St.) at 5:30 pm.
