Rene Patterson

Rene Patterson, lovingly known as “Papa Ne”,  passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81 years old.  Rene was born to loving parents, Myrtie Payne and Marshall Patterson on October 7, 1942 in Orange, Texas.  Rene was a longtime resident of Bulverde, Texas and a proud community member.  He dedicated his life to Civil Service and was a shining example of hard work and dedication.  Rene was also an animal lover and held his precious pugs near and dear to his heart.

Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Payne & Marshall Patterson; his beloved wife, Shirley Patterson; and his step-son, James Davis.  He is survived by his children, Rene Patterson II, Holly Patterson, Lisa Davis, Rita Farley (Robert), and Lorie Davis.  He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Steven Nichols, Preston Brenner, Elliot Patterson, Jodi Forrest (Brandon), Jackie Hogg (Sam), Travis Davis, and Brianna Davis, as well as by numerous great grandchildren.  Rene was also survived by his siblings, Patricia “Pitter” Evans, Myrtie Payne, and Leon Payne Jr.  He will be especially missed by his longtime neighbor and friend, Jesse Flores.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 am on June 26, 2024 at Franklin Funeral Home and a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.  Interment will directly follow at Sutherland Springs Cemetery.
