Refugia “Cuca” Gill Herrera went into the loving arms of the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the age of 98 in Floresville, Texas. She was born in Floresville, Texas on October 8, 1924 to loving parents Andrea & Ignacio Gill Sr. Refugia was a lifetime resident of Floresville, Texas and as a woman of Faith, she was a proud member of the Guadalupanas.
Refugia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pablo S. Herrera Sr. She was also preceded by her children, Rosemary Robles, Infant Paul Herrera, and Ruben Herrera, her son-in-law James Albert, as well as by nine of her siblings. She is survived by her beloved children, Gloria H. Albert, Paul G. Herrera Jr. and wife, Sandie Votion-Herrera, Alicia “Alice” Herrera, Mary Ann Herrera-Flores and husband, Alfred Flores, and Mary Yvonne Herrera. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Ricky Robles, Rosetta Gresham, Rita Sweeny, Ruth Marie Phillips, John Paul Albert, Bettina M. Ueckert, Ruben Herrera Jr., Michael Herrera, Paul G. Herrera III, James G. Herrera, Jonathan Votion, Melanie Votion, Amanda Hendrix, Rodney Cantu, Reynaldo Cantu, Richard Cantu III, Ryan Cantu, Stephanie Marie Flores Palacios, Laurie Lee Flores-Lara, and Alfred “Freddy” Flores. Refugia also leaves behind and will be forever cherished by her 56 great grand-children, 36 great-great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Miguel Gill, Stella Gill, Vickie Gill, Lupe Gill, Anita Gill, Linda Gill, and Aurora Gill.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 am and Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney Cantu, Reynaldo Cantu, Jonathan Cantu, John Paul Albert, Ruben Herrera, and Freddy Flores.
