Patrick "Pat" E. Porter

Patrick “Pat” E. Porter passed into his Eternal rest on December 27, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 69 years old.  He was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 5, 1954 to parents, Bill & Barbara Porter.  Pat was a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, where he was an active and beloved member of his community.  In 1978, he joined the San Antonio Police Department as a patrolman. He took pride in serving and protecting the people of San Antonio for 33 years and retired as a Detective in May of 2011.   Pat was also a proud member of the Freemasons.  He became an endowed member of the Highland Hills Masonic Lodge, where he was raised to Master Mason on October 9, 1989.  He later served as the Worshipful Master of the Highland Hills Masonic Lodge.  In 2015, Pat was given the 25 years of service award  and he also joined the Brayhan Masonic Lodge.  He became an endowed member there in 2017.  Pat served as Worshipful Master of the Brayhan Masonic Lodge from 2019-2020 during the 160th Anniversary year.  Serving his community was one of Pat’s greatest honors.

Throughout Pat’s life, he had a love for horses. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding on numerous trail rides throughout Texas, including rides with Alamo, Old Chisum, and Mesquite Trail Drivers. Later, his focus shifted to raising, breaking and training horses. Pat could often be found, working colts or roping steers, when he wasn’t working. Recently, he spent his time on the sidelines telling the youngsters, “how it should be done”.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Barbara Porter.  He is survived by his loving children, Heather Haag and Patrick “P.J.” E. Porter Jr. and wife, Maggie.  He will also be forever remembered by his grandchild, Payten Elizabeth Marriot, and numerous family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Franklin Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Floresville Masonic Cemetery.
