Mickey Ortiz Saldaña passed into the loving arms of the Lord on March 3, 2026 surrounded by family, in her Floresville, Texas home at the age of 76. She was born to Georgia & Edward Ortiz, Sr. on October 4, 1949 in Floresville, Texas.
A proud lifelong resident of Floresville, Mickey spent her life surrounded by the community she loved. She worked for many years as a caregiver in home healthcare, dedicating herself to caring for others with patience, compassion, and a gentle spirit. Through her work, she touched many lives and brought comfort to those who needed it most.
Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. Mickey was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville and faithfully served as a Guadalupana, honoring the Blessed Mother with deep devotion. Her faith brought her strength throughout her life and remained a guiding presence in her heart.
Above all else, Mickey loved her family dearly. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. The time she spent with her family was what she treasured most and created the memories her family hold dear.
Mickey was preceded by her parents, Edward Ortiz, Sr. and Georgia F. Ortiz; her son, Johnny Saldaña; and her siblings, Rudolpho Ortiz, Edward Ortiz, and Magdalena Ximenez. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jose Saldaña, Sr., and her loving children, Richard & Maricruz Saldaña, Jose Saldaña, Jr. & Ana Saldaña, and Gilbert Saldaña. She also leaves behind her sisters, Jackie Rodgers and Julia Perez. Mickey will be forever missed by her grandchildren, Jose Saldaña III, Johnny Ray Saldaña, Johnathan Saldaña, Angelica Saldaña, Israel Saldaña, Maricruz Gavia, Joseph Gavia, Cora Saldaña, Greyson Saldaña, and Daniel Flores III and her great-grandchildren, Mason Saldaña, Jason Saldaña, Ezekiel Saldaña, and Tobias Saldaña. Mickey truly touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her, including numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Franklin Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 and interment will directly follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Johnny Saldaña, Jose Saldaña III, Johnathan Saldaña, Joseph Gavia, Edward Ortiz, and Israel Saldaña
