Michael Dayle Villarreal

December 23, 1937 — November 17, 2023

Michael Dayle Villarreal, 85, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 17, 2023, in Floresville, Texas surrounded by his loving family and friends. Michael was born December 23, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas. During his senior year in high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps because he wanted to see the world. He retired after proudly serving for 21years and was stationed in many places, including Japan, Hawaii, Vietnam, and South Carolina. Michael has many wonderful memories of Hawaii's white sandy beaches, driving in Santa Ana, California in his 1961 baby blue Ford Convertible, and fishing and eating the best seafood in Buford, South Carolina. Michael retired from the military as a Captain, then worked in the aviation industry (Grumann, Savannah, Georgia and Fairchild, San Antonio). While stationed in Japan, he met the love of his life Teru "Teri" Katu. In 1958, they were married in the US Consulate Office in Yokohama, Japan and spent 62 happy years together before her death in 2021. Later in his life, even though he suffered from several serious conditions, he maintained a positive disposition. His trust in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, never wavered.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mildred Villarreal of San Antonio; wife Teri Villarreal of Floresville; son Mark David Villarreal of San Antonio; brother Gerald Villarreal of San Antonio; brother Ronald Villarreal of California; and brother-in-law David Montgomery of Ft. Worth, Texas. He is survived by his sister, Frankie Lynn Montgomery, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael also leaves behind his beloved dog, Koko; he often joked that his loyal dog of 9 years was actually part poodle and part Satan.

Viewing will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Floresville, with a service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #4, where he will be reunited with his wife.
