Max P. Keller, surrounded by his beloved family, passed into the loving arms of the Lord, on September 27, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. Max was born to Alois & Clara Keller in Flint, Michigan on July 22, 1937. At an early age, Max called San Antonio, Texas home, graduating from Brackenridge High School. Born into a family of eight children, he grew up surrounded by the bonds that shaped his generous spirit and lifelong devotion to family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he loved his family fiercely and was truly loved in return.
In his younger years, he was a talented musician who spread his passion for music, touring with his band. Many years later, he proudly passed down his love for music and musicianship to his grandchildren. He also had a passion for the simple things in life that brought his family together. Max was a masterful grill master at his BBQ pit and enjoyed fishing with the people he loved.
His Catholic faith was central to his life, and he was a faithful member of several organizations, including the San Jose Men’s Club, St. Anthony’s Men’s Club, St. Peter & Paul’s Men’s Club, St. Benedict’s Men’s Club, and Moose Lodge #744, where he served with the Texas Council of Higher Degree. He was also a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and a member of VFW Post #837. Known for his bright smile, quick wit, and the joy he brought into every room, he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Max was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Lee Keller; his parents, Alois & Clara Keller; his grandson, Jeff Keller Jr.; and his siblings, Alois Keller Jr., Pat & Gwen Keller, Michael & Carolyn Keller, Eddie Behrens, and Sharon A. Keller. He is survived by his loving children, Jeff Keller (Lynn), Debbie Zaiontz (Ron), Donna Mayorga (Danny), and Jennifer Hoelscher (Richard). Max will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Rhonda Zaiontz, Lisa Calderon, Shelly Britt (Nathan), Heather Keller, Jason Zaiontz (Ashley), Nicholas Mayorga (Hannah), Ryan Carrasco, Mathew Carrasco, Ashley Resendez (Justin), Victoria Mayorga, and Emily Bilano (Joseph), and his great-grandchildren, Ari, Brandon, Brianna, Landon, Kellen, Arron, Kyler, Rocco, Aubrey, Weston, Elliana, Knox, Tilton, Nico, Ryker, Grayson, Ezekiel, Jenna, and Emma. He also leaves behind his siblings, Agnes Behrens, Charlotte Keller, Don Keller, and Brandy & Duane Todd. Max had a gift for bringing people together; his love and energy will live on in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends who were blessed to know him.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 pm on October 14, 2025 at Franklin Funeral Home and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on October 15, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church and inurnment will directly follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
