Manuella “May” Rivas passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 78. She was born in Stockdale, Texas on November 15, 1947 to loving parents, Julia Cano & Edward Rivas.

May was a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, where she built a quiet and steady life centered around her family. As a devoted stay-at-home mother, she dedicated her days to caring for her children and tending to her household. She truly found purpose in the simple routines of daily life and loving the family she created. May was deeply loved by her family and her legacy is carried on in the children she raised and the love she gave faithfully through the years.

May was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Cano & Edward Rivas; her son, Steven Reno Rivas; her granddaughter, Angelica “Coco” Palacios; and her siblings, Janie Rivas, Johnny Rivas, Alfredo Rivas, Trinidad Rivas, and Ramon Rivas. She is survived by her beloved children, Frankie Rivas, Sr. (Yvonne Meyer), Raquel Rivas, Martin Sanchez (Stephanie), Perla Sanchez, and Reyna Rivas. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Omar “Tomato” Castellano, and her siblings, Dominga Gatica (Miguel), Maria Moreno, Ignacio Rivas, Edward Rivas, and Margie Ramos (Ramaldo). Though her life was quiet, the love May gave was felt every single day by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on February 21, 2026 at Franklin Funeral Home and a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will directly follow at the Emmanuel Assembly of God Cemetery in Poth, Texas.
