Louise Elizabeth Thurman, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Floresville, Sunday, June 2, 2024, surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Thurman to whom she had been married for 49 years at the time of his passing in 2018. A strong woman, she was full of passion and a love for her community. Louise was a pillar in Floresville, serving in the American Legion Floresville Post 38 Auxiliary, and as a docent at the Wilson County Jail. Louise was known for having a zest for life; she was adventurous, traveling throughout the U.S. with her husband and many dear friends. She was fearless, tackling the technological changes of the 20th century. She created a computer business designing and printing textbooks in braille, that helped educate many visually impaired students throughout western Texas. She was an artist who spent many hours drawing pictures of her beloved animals, and her idealization of the life of a Texan.
The passing of Louise leaves a void in the lives of her children; Gregg, Kim, Jeff (Sharon), Ernest (Leticia), the late Beth (Kersee) Framjee and Patsy Thurman, her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and her dearest friends that have been and will always be family.
A visitation will be held at Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4 – 7 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday June 14, 2024, at Franklin Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Saspamco on Saturday June 15, 2024, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery directly behind the church.
