Larry Stuart Hunting went to his heavenly home on December 8, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born January 16, 1945, in Vallejo, CA to Kenneth and Roberta Hunting. Larry was the second child between siblings Warren and Lori. He stated that he was so blessed to be a child of parents who took him to church and studied the bible together. Upon graduation of High School, he went to college for a year and then with the draft still in place, he decided to enlist in the US Navy. He was assigned to the USS Hancock (CV-19), an aircraft carrier. He was blessed to be in the Navigation Division, an elite division. He advanced from Seaman recruit to Quartermaster second class in two years. Upon finishing his active-duty requirement, he became an Operations Manager of a bank where he became Vice President.
He was blessed with a son, David Stark, and four stepchildren, Tim Daniel, Deborah Bland, Angela Collier, and Scott Daniel; in whom he was very proud.
After 25 years in banking, he moved to Jasper, Texas. The blessings kept coming when he sent his name to the Christian Chronicle which is a Church of Christ publication. They have a section allowing Christian singles to contact each other. At this point, God brought Gladys into his life. They were married November 28, 1998. Gladys encouraged him to square dance. As a result, they square danced from California to Florida and from Yellowstone to the Mexican border and many places in between. While traveling to Austin one day, they saw a billboard advertising Sun City. One more blessing from the heavenly Father as they moved from Jasper to Georgetown to live in Sun City. They enjoyed square dancing every Monday night. Larry learned and enjoyed playing bocce and won many individual tournaments.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Hunting, his parents Kenneth and Roberta Hunting and his brother, Warren Hunting.
Larry led a good life and talked to everyone he met about his Savior, Jesus Christ. A graveside service is scheduled for January 6, 2023, 10 am at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. The family requests that donations be made to Eastern European Missions at Memorials and Honors - EEM.
