Lamona Caran passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her home in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 91. She was born on May 12, 1935, in Gorman, Texas, to Hazel and Bill Rouse.

Lamona was a free spirit at heart who loved to travel and was never one to stay in one place for too long. Throughout her years, she spent time in Freer, Texas, and raised her family in Corpus Christi, Texas. She enjoyed seeing new places and especially loved spending time near the ocean. Lamona followed her own path, carrying with her a love for travel and the freedom to wander wherever life took her.

Lamona was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 10 years, Bob Caran, a decorated United States Army Air Forces 2nd Lieutenant Liberator Pilot. She is also preceded by her parents, Hazel and Bill Rouse; her sister, Sandra Adams; and her granddaughter, Kendal Caran Sandage.

She is survived by her children, Patti Estes, Clay Caran (Robin), and Rick Ellis Hughey (Marisela). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Dustin Estes, Dalton Estes, Mitchel Estes, Morgan Caran Carrier, Madilyn Caran Cook, Olivia Martinez Cantu, and Ricky Ellis Hughey and her great-grandchildren, Kaylor, McKenzie, Reese, Larz, Aurora, Axel, Hazel, Wyatt, Waylon, Rayleigh, Tatum, Charlie.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Grace Bible Church in La Vernia, Texas.
