John Lee Kiefer, a proud father, veteran and business owner, passed away in his Floresville, Texas home, on July 7, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 18, 1945, in Hiawatha, Kansas, to Barbara John Kiefer and Paul Leroy Kiefer, John was raised with strong values of service, integrity, and devotion to family. He served honorably in the United States Army as a PFC Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, a role he carried with immense pride throughout his life. He owned and operated Kiefer's Produce in Corpus Christi, Texas and in Refugio, Texas before moving to Floresville, Texas where he owned and operated Kiefer's Farm and Nursery. His Floresville Farm was his place of tranquility where he often spent a lot of time relaxing under Lupe's tree. He enjoyed beekeeping, his plethora of pups, his yellow-headed Amazon parrot, Chickenman and his catfish pond where the grandkids got a chance to use his catfish line for fishing. John kept busy keeping up with his fruit trees, mowing his property, including his runway for his Aero Commander 100 airplane. He enjoyed traveling and made several flights over the years: some to Maine to visit his children and grandchildren, other flights to Kansas to visit family there and a multitude of flights to the Rio Grande Valley to visit his parents. John was also a man of faith. As a child and young adult, he attended St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Atchison, Kansas, where he found his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John spent his later years in Floresville, Texas where his quiet strength and steady presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
John is now asleep in the arms of Jesus along with his parents, Paul Leroy Kiefer and Barbara John Kiefer. He is survived by Carolyn W. Davis, the mother of his loving children, Johnny Paul Kiefer of South China, Maine and Michelle Ann Kiefer Darveau (Rick) of South China, Maine. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mason J. Faucher (Megan) of Augusta, Maine, Kaitlyn M. Darveau of Auburn Maine, Tiffany M. Kiefer of South China, Maine, and Allyson M. Kiefer of Phoenix, Arizona, and his great grandchildren, Carson Faucher, Collin Faucher and Luna Lynn Hill. John will be greatly missed by his siblings, Leroy Kiefer (Barbara) of Atchison, Kansas, Paul D. Kiefer (Anna) of Raymondville, Texas, Judee Soendker of Raymondville, Texas, Barbara Smart (Troy) of Austin, Texas, Diana Kiefer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Katherine Braxton Moore (Troy) of Austin, Texas, and Cindy Semler (Bill) of Austin, Texas. John is survived by numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
