Joaquin “Polo” Garcia passed into his Eternal Rest on December 1, 2023 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 72 years old. He was born in Mexico to parents, Petra Arizpe and Joaquin Garcia on December 27, 1950. Never short on jokes and kind smiles, Joaquin had a way of brightening everyone’s day. He was a proud truck driver for most of his life with an internal map that couldn’t be beat. In recent years, Joaquin settled in Floresville, Texas where he happily took the role of number one fan at each of his grandchildren’s activities. Joaquin had a passion for bringing light and laughter into this world and he did so until his final days.
Joaquin was preceded in death by his parents, Petra Arizpe & Joaquin Garcia. He was also preceded by his son, Joaquin Garcia III, and his first wife, Maria Rosa Hernandez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Garcia, and loving daughter, Melissa Garcia (Miguel Gonzalez). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joaquin Manuel, Samantha, Jonathan, Josiah, Jovanni, and Jadiel, who were the absolute joy in his life. Joaquin will also be greatly missed his siblings, San Juana Garcia (Cornelio Martinez), Domingo Garcia (Marta), Horacio Garcia (Graciela), Silvia Vargas, Maria Guadalupe Guajardo (Juan), Alfredo Garcia, Javier Garcia, Norma Alcala, Sergio Garcia (Lennis), Lucia Munoz (Jose), and Claudia Serna (Enrique). He is also survived by his beloved God-Children, Sonia Alcala, Cornelio Martinez Jr, and Cesar Arce and his best friend and brother from another mother, Simon Cruz. Joaquin leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that was larger than life and he will forever be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Franklin Funeral Home and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A private funeral mass will be held at a later date.
