Jimmy Maurice Lamberth

May 17, 1932 — March 4, 2024

Jimmy Maurice Lamberth, lovingly known as “Mr. Jim”, went into the loving arms of the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home in San Antonio, Texas.  He was born to loving parents,  Virgil Elmo “Rusty” Lamberth and Nettie Eron “Biggie” Spear, in Stockdale, Texas on May 17, 1932.  Jimmy was a lifetime resident of South Texas and a proud Veteran of the United States Army.  He was also a man of faith and active member of the church of Christ.  Jimmy had a heart the size of Texas and leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and above all, love.

Jimmy attended public schools in Calaveras and Stockdale and graduated from Floresville High School in 1950. He enjoyed attending the “Fabulous Fifties” class reunions of those Floresville High School classes that had graduated 50 years or more ago. He was recognized as the second to oldest attendee for the past two years.

Jimmy was a real cowboy, growing up on a 2,000 acre ranch, Shannon Ridge, that his father managed north of Floresville. After high school he was a truck driver and then went to work in the oil field, running morning tower on a drilling rig in Sinton, Texas.  It was there he met the first love of his life, Elizabeth “Miz Beth” Miller.  They married May 25, 1952 and were married 56 years until her death in 2008.

Jimmy served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 and was trained as an electrical engineer.  After the Army, Jimmy worked on airplanes at Kelly Field.  He then joined IBM and worked for them for 21 years, working mostly as a tech specialist, but at one point was a classroom instructor in Versailles, Kentucky, for four years. Upon returning to Texas, Jimmy continued working as a tech specialist covering most of Texas.  He earned his private pilot’s license to cover his large territory.  Jimmy and Miz Beth then owned an engraving and sign business near downtown San Antonio until he left the business to care for Miz Beth until her death in 2008.  While running the business, Jimmy bought 24 acres south of San Antonio near Calaveras Lake where he raised, bought and sold cattle for many years.

Jimmy was a true man of God, most recently a faithful member of the China Grove church of Christ, often serving as lay preacher for several congregations through the years. He was a prostate cancer survivor of many years.  He was very politically involved, fighting against toll roads in San Antonio area and often writing letters to the editor of the Wilson County News.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife, and their children, Bradley Don Lamberth and Kim Jolyn Lamberth Schirmer.  He will also be greeted by his siblings, Chester Lamberth, Maxine Pavliska, and Katherine Stadler, niece Donna Lynn Dunham (Rick), and nephews David Jennings and Randy Stevens,   Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Lou P. Lamberth, also known as “Mis Lou”.  He is also survived by his step-children, Clayton Kendrick, Justin Gabriel (Trish), John Kendrick (Marie), Patrick Kendrick, Christopher Kendrick (Gay), Richard Kendrick, and Phillip Kendrick (Lauren).  Jimmy also leaves behind his grandchildren, Elizabeth & Jared Schirmer and Shawney & Destin Lamberth, as well as his son-in-law, Lynn Schirmer, and twelve step-grandchildren.  Jimmy will also be forever remembered by his nephews, Ray Lamberth (Allison), Bill Pavliska (Lorrain), and John Pavliska, all of Floresville, and niece Joan Pavliska of San Antonio; niece Debbie Segers (Dennis) of Carmel, California; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 pm at Franklin Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Franklin Funeral Home and interment will directly follow at the Stockdale City Cemetery.  The Lamberth family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Suncrest Hospice.  The beauty of their care and kindness will be forever remembered and appreciated in their hearts.
