James Walter “Jimmy” Miller Jr. went peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on August 1, 2025 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 84. Jimmy was born on May 5, 1941 at Fort Sam Houston Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Though he will be greatly missed, he leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith.
Jimmy proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His career took him all over the world and ended with a remarkable chapter at the Harris Corporation. Along the way, he met the love of his life, Sukhiu Miller, and the two eventually settled in Melbourne, Florida, where they made a happy home and shared countless memories together.
Jimmy was a man of strong faith and a devoted member of Blackwell Baptist Church in Blackwell, Texas. His unwavering belief in God guided his life, and he will be remembered for his integrity, strength, and loving heart.
Jimmy was preceded in death by beloved wife, Sukhiu Miller; his father, James Walter Miller Sr.; his step-mother, Ethlyn Miller; and his son, James Walter Miller III. He is survived by his son, Dean Miller, his step-brother, Jim Hughes, and wife, Pam, his nephew, Rhyan Hughes; and his former wife, Nadine Miller. Jimmy will also be greatly missed by his honorary family, especially, his best friend of 43 years and fellow serviceman, Duane Goettsch and his wife, Sukhee Goettsch. He also leaves behind honorary family members, Jennifer Conway and husband, Douglas Frasier, Josephine Frasier, Thadeaus Goettsch and wife, Megan, and Locklyn Goettsch.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Jimmy was proud to serve his country and even prouder to serve his Lord. His faith guided him, and his steady presence will be deeply missed.
