Iris "Bana" Barrera

January 11, 1972 — December 12, 2024

Iris “Bana” Barrera passed into her eternal rest on December 12, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 52 years old.  She was born to loving parents, Estella & Tony Alfaro in San Antonio, Texas on January 11, 1972.  Iris was a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas where she raised her family with her highschool sweetheart and devoted husband, Robert Barrera.  Iris was a shining example of what it means to have a servant’s heart.  Throughout her life she served her community in many ways.  From having a gentle touch as a CNA to keeping the children of Floresville safe and loved as a childcare provider, Iris left this world a more beautiful place than how she found it.  She was also a woman of faith and proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and their ACTS Community.

Iris was preceded in death by her father, Tony Alfaro; her brothers, Jerry Alfaro & Tony Alfaro; and her granddaughter, Bailey Celeste Alfaro.  She is survived by her husband, Robert “Pato” Barrera; her beloved children, Brianna Alfaro, Robert Barrera III (Kayla), Gabrielle Barrera (Jeremy Perez), and Aliyah Barrera; and her mother, Estella Alfaro.  She will be forever cherished by  her grandchildren, Aubrey Perez, Ethan Alfaro, Theadora Perez, and Miles Barrera.  She also leaves behind her siblings, Roland Alfaro (Laura Acevedo Alfaro), Mark Alfaro, Chavela Hernandez, Martha Maldonado, and Richard Alfaro.  Iris’ beautiful memories will be fondly remembered by all those who knew her, especially by her numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am and  interment will directly follow at Floresville City Cemetery.  In keeping with Iris’ vibrant love for life and final wishes, the Barrera family kindly requests that attendees wear bright colors to pay their final respects.
