Irene Felux Brewer

Irene Felux Brewer, born on May 30th, 1953, in Floresville, TX passed away peacefully at South Arkansas Regional Hospital on Feb. 19th, 2025 after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  She was the loving daughter of John and Dorothy Felux.

She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Roger Brewer; two sons, Christopher Brewer and Timothy Brewer; three grandchildren, Paige Brewer, Padma Brewer, and Kurt Brewer; one brother, Charles Felux; and two sisters, Lillian Swintek and Mary Kruciak.  She was preceded in passing by her first son, Dennis "Little Dennis" Acosta Jr. from her first marriage.

Being raised by her mother and father on their family farm in Floresville, TX, Irene learned to be both hard-working and strong willed.  Even from a young age, she would take on more than her fair share of work and always helped out where she could.  When her father passed at a young age, she was always at her mother's side to help with whatever was needed.  As she grew older and settled in Camden, AR with her husband Roger, she came to love her time in life as a teacher to her children, both to her sons and to her students.  As a mother, she instilled in her boys to be hard working, loving, and respectful of everyone in their lives.  She spent most of her energy helping them grow to become the men they are today.  She also made sure they had a connection with her childhood home of Floresville by regularly spending time with her extended family in Floresville during the summers of their childhood.  As a teacher, her students at both H.I.P.P.Y. and Head Start were also a big part of her life.  She would regularly spend long hours preparing lesson plans and activities for her home visits and classroom just to make sure they had the best Pre-K education she could provide.  Even after she had retired due to her health, her past students would still visit with her in passing, expressing gratitude for how important she was to them as a teacher.  In her retirement, she took great joy in spending time with her husband, sons, and grandchildren.

A wake for her friends and family in Arkansas will be held at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, AR on Sunday, Feb. 23rd, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Her funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, TX on March 1st, 2025.  A visitation will begin at 9:30 am and a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Irene's sons and extended family will serve as pallbearers. She will be interred at Sacred Heart Cemetery after her Funeral Mass where she will rest with her departed family.
