Helen "Sissy" Snyder

August 24, 1938 — June 5, 2025

Helen “Sissy” Snyder passed into her eternal rest on June 5, 2025 in Floresville, Texas home at the age of 86.  She was born to loving parents, Helen & Charles Godkin in San Antonio, Texas on August 24, 1938. Sissy was a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas where she spent her later years with the love of her life, Richard Lee Snyder.  Sissy was a devoted wife and mother who took joy in the simple moments in life.  Sissy’s smile as she cheered on her beloved San Antonio Spurs, her steady focus on her cross-stitching and crossword puzzles, and her gentle wit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Sissy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Lee Snyder; her parents, Helen & Charles Godkin; her brother, Charlie “Mickey” Godkin; and Richard’s best friend, Felix Madla.  She is survived by her loving son, Chris Snyder, and daughter-in-law, Alice Snyder. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Abbigail Snyder, Christopher Snyder Jr. (Greer), and Cody Snyder, and her great-granddaughter, Evangeline “Squeaky” Snyder.  Sissy will forever be cherished by her sister, Barbara Adams, and her nieces and nephews, James Ornelas, Donald Ornelas (Lupita), Patrick Godkin, Leette Christian (Clint), Linda Madla, Magda Madla, Susan Adams (Jeff), John Madla (Kelly), Amanda Arreguin (Nasario), Matthew Ornelas, Devin Ornelas, and Colton Christian.  Sissy is also survived by her aunt, Connie Madla.  Sissy truly left a mark on all who knew her and will be missed by numerous family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on July 18, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church (245 S Hidalgo St. New Braunfels, Texas 78130) and a reception will directly follow at New Braunfels Elk Lodge #2279 (353 S Seguin Ave, New Braunfels, Texas 78130).  Sissy was a passionate woman whose heart held fast to the things she loved and the Snyder family would like to thank the community for their help in keeping Sissy’s beautiful memories alive.
