Guadalupe “Lupe” Courvier Martinez went into the loving arms of the Lord in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 87 years old. She was born to loving parents, Matias and Antonia Courvier in Floresville, Texas on December 29, 1938. Lupe spent her early years in Floresville and was a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas where she raised her beloved family. She was a woman of faith and a devoted member of the Catholic Church, attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Lupe was a talented seamstress by trade and took great pride in her work. She was known for her lively spirit and wonderful sense of humor, always joking and bringing laughter to those around her. She had a strong and guiding presence, always rooted in love and laughter. Her family knew her as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Through each season of her long, beautiful life, she cared deeply for those around her and created a home filled with love and laughter.
Lupe was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank “Chico” Martinez, Sr.; her parents, Matias and Antonia Courvier; and her siblings, Otillia Lugo, Felice Montoya, Matias Courvier, Jr., Herlinda Marroquin, Clemente Courvier, Fernando Courvier, Julia Courvier, Hermando Courvier, Antonia Courvier, and her infant brother, Fernando Courvier.
She is survived by her children, Mario Martinez, Julia Martinez, Frank Martinez, Jr. and wife Sandra, and Marcus Martinez and partner, Michael Levermann. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Joshua De La Garza, Andrew De La Garza, Cathryn Martinez, and Amry Martinez. She also leaves behind her sister, Petra Arroyla, her sister-in-law, Paola Courvier, as well as numerous family and friends who will cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, April 27, 2026. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am and Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Inurnment will directly follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
