Goldie Lynell Horne passed into the loving arms of her Lord on March 28, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81. She was born on May 3, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Willie Mae Stanteen Craig and Lieutenant Colonel William G. Craigg. Lynell was a longtime resident of San Antonio, where she built a life centered around her family and her faith. She was a devoted member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around her.
Lynell was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Horne; her parents, Willie Mae Gates and Lieutenant Colonel William G. Craigg; her step-father, Maxell Gates, Sr. and step-mother, Evelyn Craigg; and her brothers, Maxell Gates, Jr. and Gordon Ray Gates.
She is survived by her beloved children, Joseph Brett Biegler and David Brent “Bubba” Biegler and step-children, Mylissa Richardson (Paul) and Becky Baylor (Matthew). Lynell will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Karlie Blake Biegler, David Brooks Biegler, Austin Richardson (Elissa), Jake Richardson, Logan Baylor, and Katherine Baylor. She also leaves behind her siblings, William “Bill” Gates (Barbara) and Wilbron Burnell Gates (Laura). Lynell truly left a mark on everyone who knew her, especially her former husband and best friend, Walter Biegler and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nephews, cousins and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, with a eulogy to be shared at 9:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., with a private interment to follow at Salem Cemetery.
