George C. Silva

George C. Silva Sr passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 90 in San Antonio, Texas.  He was born on November 28, 1932 to loving parents, Nicanor and Josephina Silva in Floresville, Texas, where he remained a lifetime resident. George (POPO) attended school in Lodi and worked in the fields prior to working at Southern Steel Company where he retired after 35 years. On April 13, 1954 George married his beloved wife Mary Sendejo Silva.  George’s wife of 54 years, Mary preceded him in death on January 31, 2008.  George was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed playing his guitar and accordion, singing, and cooking outdoors. Most of all, he spent all his time with his family.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Sendejo Silva.  He was also preceded by his siblings, Louis Silva Sr, Reyes Miranda, Maria Del Carmen Perez, Juan Silva, Adela Estrada, and Nick Silva Jr.

George is survived by his children, Laura Pena and husband Louis, Darlene Martinez and husband Daniel, Sandra Mendoza and husband Rudy, George Silva Jr and wife Roxanne, and Imelda  Mendoza and husband Randy.  He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Gregory and wife Carolyn, Garick and wife Terrah, Genelda and husband Juan, Gabrielle and Josh, Danielle, Dafney, Daniel Jr and Erin, Rudina and Gino, Davina, Daniera, George Nicklas, Patrick, Merlanda, Nathaniel, Cedric and Amber, and Emric as well as by his Great-Grandchildren, Caitlyn, Careena, Dara, Roman, Audrina, Troy, Mason, Daralyn, Ryson, and Madalyn.

He is also survived by his siblings, Clemente Silva and Mary Morales.

George will forever be cherished. He truly left a mark on everyone he met and will be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held at Franklin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 6:00 pm.  A Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm that evening.  A Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 16, 2023 and Interment will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
