Frank Peter Smith Guerrero passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born on October 18, 1944, in Peterborough, England, to Elsie May Pelech and Tomas T. Guerrero.

A longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, Frank was a beloved member of the community. On December 21, 1966, he married the love of his life, Thomasa Reyes Barrera, and together they began building a life and family that would remain at the heart of everything he did. His life of service began as a young man when he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. Following his military service, he spent many years working in the food industry as a cook and baker. Cooking remained something he enjoyed throughout his life, and he was always happiest sharing good food and a good laugh with those around him.

Frank was a man with a wonderful sense of humor who loved cracking jokes and making people laugh. He enjoyed fishing and could often be found sitting in his truck listening to music. Around Floresville, many also came to lovingly know him simply as “The Barrel Man,” a nickname earned from the barrels he sold along the side of the road.

Frank was a man of faith and a member of Triunfo De La Fe. He loved the Lord and carried his faith with him throughout his life. He will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor, and the laughter and memories he shared with those around him. As his family says goodbye, they find comfort in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Thomasa Reyes Barrera, and his parents, Elsie May Pelech and Tomas T. Guerrero.

He is survived by his loving children, Melissa G. Recio (Juan), Angie G. Duncan (Michael), Billy Ray Guerrero (Jennifer Ramirez), and Sylvia Alfaro Ruiz (Juan). He will be fondly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Frank is also survived by his siblings, John W. Guerrero & Margaret G. Silva, as well numerous nieces and nephews, family, and many friends.

A family-led memorial service will be held at a later date.
