Fernando James Alfaro, Jr. passed away on March 11, 2026 at the age of 20. He was born on July 15, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas. A lifetime resident of Floresville, Texas, Fernando was a cherished son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, and friend.
Fernando was deeply loved by his family and cherished by his many friends. He was known for his determination and the drive he carried in everything he did. Fernando had a passion for fitness and loved spending time at the gym, always pushing himself to be his best. He was also an apprentice plumber who had begun building a promising career, bringing that same dedication and strong work ethic into his work. He will be remembered always for the love he shared and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
Fernando was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Castro. He is survived by his loving parents, Darlene and Roger Cantu, and his siblings, Danika Alfaro, Jocelyn Alfaro, Paiton Cantu, and Rylan Cantu. He also leaves behind his grandmothers, Rosa Castro and Elva Rios, and his great-grandmothers, Julia Castro and Alice Rios. Fernando will be forever cherished by his aunts and uncles, Melinda and Anthony Silva, Marlene and Billy Herrera, Diamond Sanchez, Vita Rios, Angel Rios, and Ruben Cantu. Though his time here was far too short, the love Fernando shared with those around him will remain in their hearts forever, especially by his beloved girlfriend, Isabella Mathis. Fernando’s memory will live on in the hearts of his many cousins, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. and interment will directly follow at the Floresville City Cemetery.
