Edward “Wayo” Cano Rivas, Jr. passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on June 19, 2026, at his home in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born on June 13, 1943, in Stockdale, Texas, to Eduardo and Julia Cano Rivas.

Edward was a hardworking man who dedicated his career to the plumbing trade, spending many years as a master plumber. He took great pride in doing a job well and was known as someone who could fix just about anything he set his mind to. He was a natural talent in just about everything he tried. When he wasn't working, Edward enjoyed spending time playing pool and relaxing with a Budweiser in hand. More than anything, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Salome Nieto Rivas; his parents, Eduardo and Julia Cano Rivas; and his siblings, Alfredo Rivas, Juan Rivas, Ramon Rivas, Juanita Mendoza, May Rivas, and Trinidad Macias.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Samantha Rivas Olivarez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Ruben Edward Ortiz II, Joseph Rene Ortiz, Benito Martinez, Jr., and Madelyn Martinez. He is also survived by his siblings, Ignacio Rivas, Dominga Gatica (Miguel), Margie Ramos (Romaldo), and Mary Moreno, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 am at Franklin Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Michael Toscano, Salomon Chavez, Garrett Rivas, Seraphin Serrano, Rufus Rivas, Jr., and Johnny Ray Rivas.
