Edward Lawrence Higby

Edward Lawrence Higby passed into his Eternal rest on December 7, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 89 years old.  He was born on September 14, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to loving parents, Viola & George Higby.  Edward spent his final years in Floresville, Texas and prior to that he was a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas.  Edward was a proud United States Army Veteran, where he served as a Private Second Class in the Korean War.  He left a legacy of honor and pride, inspiring both his son, Charles Ray Higby (PV1 US Army), and grandson, Blake Sanches (SSG US Army & Marines), to also serve with pride.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Viola & George Higby, and his son, George Gilbert Higby.  He is also preceded by his siblings, a twin brother and sister lost early in life.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Guadalupe S. Higby and his children, Charles Ray Higby and Juanita Higby Sanches.  He will also be forever remembered by his 5 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and countless family and friends.

A Military service will be held at a later date.  The Higby family would like to thank the staff at Brooke Army Medical Center for the heartfelt Final Salute, beautifully honoring Edward’s memory.
