Dorothy Hartmann Mutz passed peacefully into her eternal rest on July 24, 2025 in her Floresville, Texas home at the age of 86. She was born in Floresville to loving parents, Elmore W. Hartmann & Adella Hartmann, on August 14, 1938. Dorothy was the oldest child of nine siblings in a large, close-knit family who loved each other fiercely. She was a lifetime resident of Floresville, Texas where she met the love of her life, Fabian Mutz Sr., and raised her beloved family. She spent part of her working years serving children in the school cafeteria. However, her most cherished role was that of mother and grandmother, a calling she embraced with her whole heart.
She found great joy in gathering with friends to play bunco and was always filling the room with laughter and warmth. Dorothy was a strong woman of faith, which was a guiding light in her life. She was a devoted member of the First Lutheran Church in Floresville, a place she considered her second home. Dorothy’s legacy lives on through the love she poured into her family, her friendships, and her community.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fabian Mutz Sr.; her parents, Elmore W. Hartmann & Adella Hartmann; her grandchildren, Kimberly Mutz and Korey Mutz; and her siblings, Linda Waltersdorff, Joan Contreras, Brenda Hartmann, and Marie Pawelek. She is survived by her loving children, Elmore “Butch” Mutz and wife, Judy, Julia Faye Mutz Fischer, and husband, Ronald, and Fabian “Bubba” Mutz Jr. and wife, Laurie. She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren, Kyle Mutz (Jenny), Keith Mutz (Roxanne), RJ Harris (Abby), Brettany Swierc (Luke), Jessica Reagan (Tyler), Naisha Harris, Brandon Mutz (Callie), and Lee Fischer. Dorothy also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Jackson C. Pape, Winnie Elle Harris, Gavin Mutz, Evie Kate Harris, Liam Mutz, Addison Pape, Kasper Reagan, Nolan Mutz, Shepard Harris, Cyrus Reagan, Conrad Mutz, and soon to arrive, Matilda Reagan. Dorothy will also be fondly remembered by her siblings, Ernest Hartmann (Marcella), Florence Neubauer, Larry Hartmann (Lisa), and Debra Ann Hartmann. Dorothy’s beautiful memory will live on in the hearts of her First Lutheran Church family and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Franklin Funeral Home. A second visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church and a service will take place at 10:00 am. Interment will directly follow at the Floresville City Cemetery.
Afterwards, everyone is invited back to First Lutheran Church for fellowship and a light luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the Mutz family asks you to please consider making a donation in Dorothy’s name to her beloved First Lutheran Church.
