Doroteo “Deacon Tito” Chavarria passed into his eternal rest on May 25, 2026, in his Floresville, Texas home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87. He was born on February 12, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Feliz and Doroteo Chavarria.
Deacon Tito was a devoted man of God and a beloved member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church community. He faithfully served as a Deacon and was also a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a Guadalupano, a member of the Cursillo and ACTS communities, served in prison ministry, and shared his heart through Marriage Encounter. As a young man, he also served in the National Guard. Deacon Tito was truly a gift to his community, living with a servant’s heart and a deep love for others. Above all, he was the most loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather his family could have asked for.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Feliz and Doroteo Chavarria; his son, David Victor Chavarria; and his siblings, Jose Victor Chavarria, Amelia Clem, and Maria Gonzales. Deacon Tito is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years and 11 months, Alicia “Molly” Chavarria. He is also survived by his loving children, Daniel Robert Chavarria (Becky), Dennis Paul Chavarria (Mimi), and Doroteo Jesus Chavarria.
