Obituary

Don “Ranger” Lamica passed away on February 20, 2026 in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 75. He was born on August 22, 1950 in Malone, New York to Viola and Chester Lamica. Originally from New York, Don made his way to Texas in true Ranger fashion - riding his motorcycle south and deciding to stay. Texas became his home, and he was proud to call it that for many years.

Don was a very proud retired Sergeant Major in the United States Army and an equally proud Army Ranger with the 82nd Airborne Division. He dedicated 27 years of his life to military service, a career he spoke of with deep pride and unwavering respect. His time in uniform shaped much of who he was - disciplined, strong-willed, and fiercely loyal. Outside of his military career, Don found peace and purpose in woodworking. He enjoyed working with his hands, crafting pieces with patience and care.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Viola Lamica, and his siblings, Judy Grabouskas, Linda Burnelle, Susan Lamica, Larry Lamica, and Lyle Lamica. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lamica, and his children, Jean Chewning of Odessa, Texas, Theresa Yarborough of Floresville, Texas, Michael Hynes, and David Lamica of Georgia. He also leaves behind his siblings, Carolyn Ginestro (John) of Cicero, New York, Wayne Lamica of Malone, New York, Stephan Lamica (Diane) of Burke, New York, and Robert Lamica of Burke, New York.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
