Dixie Joy Toalson Dowd

Dixie Joy Toalson Dowd passed away peacefully in Floresville, Texas on September 11, 2025 at the age of 90 years old.  She was born in Tuxedo, Oklahoma on March 10, 1935, to Hugh & Nellie Toalson.  Dixie spent her early years in Oklahoma, but made her home in South Texas.  For many decades, Floresville was the place she built her life, created friendships, and shared her passions.  In her younger days, Dixie worked as a trick rider in the rodeo.  She also had a deep love for animals, especially her show goats, which brought her great pride and joy.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh & Nellie Toalson; her daughter, Katy Rain Dowd-Kirby; and her brothers, Jack Toalson & Joe Toalson.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmie Ray Dowd.
