Charles "Ben" Fields

May 2, 1938 — July 29, 2025

Charles “Ben” Fields was surrounded by his family when he passed peacefully into his eternal rest in his home on July 29, 2025 at the age of 87.  He was born on May 2, 1938 to Ada Odell Campbell Fields & Benjamin Oliver “B.O.” Fields in Lawrence County, Tennessee.  Ben was a devoted husband, loving father, and a proud grandfather whose kindness, dedication, and quiet strength continue to live on in those who loved him.   He took great pride in helping shape the town he called home through his work as a land developer and home builder, transforming open fields into neighborhoods where families could grow and thrive.  Ben also served his country with honor as a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Oliver “B.O.” Fields & Ada Odell Campbell Fields; and his siblings, Milton Fields, Kenneth Fields, James Fields, Bobby Fields, Harold “Shorty” Fields, Doris Ezell, Betty Eck, Nancy Moore, and Mildred Brown.  He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years,  Margaret O’Brien Fields, and his loving children, Fawn Ada Brannan (Wade) and Robert Benjamin Fields (Tracy Fluitt). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ashton Johnson (Terence), Micah Brannan, and Tyler Brannan, and his great grandson, Lincoln John Lugo as well as one sister Peggy Kilgore. Ben will be forever cherished by all those who knew him, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Franklin Funeral Home and a funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm.  A fellowship reception will directly follow at the Sacred Heart Church Hall.  A private interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
