Cecelia Palmarez was born on November 22, 1949, in Floresville, Texas. She passed away in Floresville, surrounded by the family who had always been at the center of her life.

Cecelia was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. To many others, she was known simply as “Grandma Cece.” Her love extended far beyond her immediate family, and countless children and adults found comfort, kindness, and unconditional love in her presence. Many of her grandchildren were not related to her by blood, but that never mattered to Cecelia. If she loved you, you were hers.

Cecelia spent much of her life caring for others. She raised her children and helped raise grandchildren, nieces, and even her younger siblings. A devoted homemaker, she was also a talented cook and seamstress. One of her greatest joys was having her children and grandchildren gathered under one roof. To her family, she was known as “Mom” and “Tia Cece,” and she was always considered the best cook. Her meals brought everyone together and filled her home with warmth, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Through sewing, cooking the warmest meals and caring for others, Cecelia created a home where everyone felt welcome and knew they belonged. Her door was open, her table always had room, and her heart had space for one more.

Cecelia leaves behind her children, Valerie Palmarez (Johnny Cruz), Abbie Aranda (Rudy Gonzalez), Lysa Garcia, Doreyda Palmarez (Michael Barbontin Jr.), and Tymathi Palmarez, who will forever carry their mother’s love and lessons with them. She will forever live in the hearts of her grandchildren, Mark Palmarez, Goliath Hernandez, Joey Hernandez, Ozzy Flores, Adolfo “Angel” Palmarez, Amber Palmarez, Daniel “Bones” Garcia, Anastasia Garcia, Jazmine Garcia, and Hezekiah Gonzalez, as well as the many grandchildren she gained throughout her life and loved as her own. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Anyla Herrera, Nevaeh Palmarez, Michael Barbontin III, Kingston Barbontin, Serenity Asebedo, Zachary Bishop, Goliath Hernandez Jr., Samara Hernandez, Bentley Hernandez, Jameson Hernandez, and Kalista “Cecelia” Hernandez. She is also survived by her sisters, Minnie Aranda and Yolanda Torres; her brothers, Roland Aranda and Andres “Andy” Aranda; numerous nieces and nephews; and an extended family and community filled with people who were blessed to call her Grandma Cece.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adolfo Palmarez Sr.; her son, Adolfo Palmarez Jr.; her parents, Amado Aranda Sr. and Tomasa G. Aranda; and her brother, Amado Aranda Jr. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved and missed so deeply.

Pallbearers honoring Cecelia will be Mark Palmarez, Tymathi Palmarez, Goliath Hernandez, Joey Hernandez, Michael Barbontin Jr., and Ozzy Flores. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zachary Bishop, Goliath Hernandez Jr., Michael Barbontin III, Kingston Barbontin, and Bentley Hernandez.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 7, 2026 at Franklin Funeral Home and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and interment will directly follow at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, Texas.

Though her family and community will deeply miss her presence, Cecelia’s love will continue through every person she helped raise, every person she called family, and everyone who had the privilege of calling her Grandma Cece. Cecelia Palmarez will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
