Barbara Gertrude Hughey

Barbara Gertrude Hughey peacefully passed into her eternal rest on January 29, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 83 years old.  She was born to loving parents, Gertrude & Elton T. Swanner in Floresville, Texas on January 12, 1942.  Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met. She dedicated her life to her family, always offering love, wisdom, and strength.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard J. Hughey; her parents, Gertrude & Elton T. Swanner; and her siblings, Betty Mills, Jimmy Swanner, & Walter Swanner.  She also preceded her mother and father-in-law, Dorothy J. Wagoner & Eldridge T. Wagoner; and her brother-in-laws, Richard Mills & George Hughey.  She was also preceded by her nephew, Rusty Mills, and her great-niece, Emma Woodlee.   Barbara is survived by her treasured children, Eldridge Thomas Hughey (Elizabeth), Jeffery B. Hughey (Dianne), and Sabra Garcia (Royce).  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Tasha Gray (Justin), Tricia Muenchow (Michael), Matthew Hughey, Tara Hughey, Troy Hughey (Allison), Tiffany Hughey, and Jakob Garcia.  She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Waylon, Cash, Brooks, Colson, Mattie, Emmitt, and Charlotte.  Barbara’s legacy of joy and love will be forever remembered by all those who knew her, including her beloved nieces, Lesa Woodlee & Wendy Mills, her sister-in-law, Sherry Swanner, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall, 1009 Trail Street, Floresville, Texas 78114.
