Amado Esqueda, Jr. passed into his eternal rest on April 11, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 73. He was born on September 4, 1952 in Eagle Pass, Texas to parents, Concepcion and Amado Esqueda, Sr.
Amado was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who filled every room with joy and laughter. He loved to joke around and was full of life. Music was always close to his heart, and you could often hear his favorite rancheras floating through the air. He enjoyed surrounding himself with the things he loved and took pride in his many collections, including hats, knives, wolves, and Native American pieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion and Amado Esqueda, Sr., and his granddaughter, Ashley Topanga Esqueda. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bertha Esqueda. He is also survived by his children, Amado Esqueda III (Leticia), Alberto Esqueda (Mayra Flores), Cindy Esqueda (Jesse Sandoval), Patricia Esqueda-Aviña (Juan), and Juan Jesus Esqueda. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Manuel Lopez, Amado Esqueda IV, Arianna Esqueda, Mayra Esqueda, Marlette Sandoval, Juan Aviña, Jr., and Andres Aviña. He is also survived by his siblings, Josefina Kypuros (Willie) and Olivia Casales, as well as his honorary children, Juan and Melissa Recio. Amado will be dearly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Franklin Funeral Home, beginning at 6:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 am.
