Alveria Krueger Slay went into the loving arms of the Lord on February 20, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85 years old. She was born to loving parents, Edna & William Krueger Sr in Coy City, Texas on January 16, 1940. As a young girl, Alveria grew up in Fashing, Texas, but Floresville is where she called home. Alveria was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was known for spreading absolute joy with just a smile. She was lovingly known as Grandma to many of Floresville’s children as she worked tirelessly, keeping them fed at the local elementary school. No matter where she was though, her warmth and love always managed to fill the hearts of those who knew her.
Alveria was preceded in death by her parents, Edna & William Krueger Sr; her son, Michael Shraub; and her siblings, Tiency Krueger, Alfred Krueger Sr, Albert Krueger, Henry Krueger, Pauline Krueger Holtz, Ollie Krueger Eckerman, and Josephine Krueger Dresch. Alveria was survived by her beloved husband, Galen Slay, and her loving children, Clifton Schraub, Barbara Wolf, Thomas Schraub, Arnold Schraub, and Galen Leroy Slay Jr. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alveria truly touched the lives of everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by her siblings, Ella Nora Krueger Pawelek and William Krueger Jr, as well as by her honorary sister, Erma Mae Pfeil.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Krueger Slay family would like to thank the community for their kind words and help in keeping Alveria’s beautiful memories alive.
