Born Alice Louise Marino in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Louise moved to San Antonio, Texas when she was six months old. She graduated from Harlandale High School in 1956 and went to Draughon's Business College where she met Jack Doyle Elliff, and they married. She and Jack had three children: Deborah Lynn Elliff, Terry Doyle Elliff, and Sandra L. Elliff, all of whom have predeceased her. She and Jack were married 31 years. Louise then married Don "Smokey" Lotspeich on October 14, 1998, and they remained married until his death on February 19, 2004.
Louise was a hard worker and had many different careers throughout her life. She worked at Northside Independent School District and took one semester at San Antonio College at night. Later on she went to dental assistant school and worked a brief time as a dental assistant until her son Terry was killed while stationed in Germany in 1981. Then she and Jack started Lou-Jack Janitorial Service where the work was hard and required long hours.
Louise was predeceased by her three beloved children, Deborah Lynn Elliff, Terry Doyle Elliff, and Sandra L. Elliff. She was also predeceased by her husband, Don "Smokey" Lotspeich. She leaves behind a brother Robert Marino of Bridgeport, Connecticut; a sister Susan Marriott in Arizona; and a brother Jimmy D. Pence and wife, Curly, in Garland, Texas; a sister-in-law, Donna Johnson, in the Dallas area; a niece Jeanette Kriewald in Bandera, nephews Larry and Robert Kriewald in Bigfoot, Texas and Sonny Kriewald in Castroville; and many nephews and cousins all over Texas. She leaves behind her stepchildren Kay Navels and Diana in Cuero, Texas, and Don Lotspeich, Jr. of Refugio, Texas. She also leaves behind a dear friend, Carmella Collins, who was like a daughter to her. Louise was Godmother to Carmella's two daughters, Keitha Johnson and Katherine Austin. Louise was especially close to her First Baptist Church Floresville family and treasured the many friendships over the years.
Louise loved country music, dancing, cooking, baking, quilting, and gardening. She always had a smile and a laugh to share with others. She was genuinely loved and will be dearly missed by many.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Floresville on March 13, 2025. Donations made be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Department.
