Alfredo Posada

November 24, 1941 — February 9, 2025

Alfredo Posada, lovingly known as “Mr. Cool” by many who were blessed to know him, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in his Nixon, Texas home on February 9, 2025 at the age of 83.  He was born to loving parents, Luciano & Elvira Posada on November 24, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas.  Alfredo was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was a pillar of the Nixon, Texas community where he was the heart and soul of every gathering.  In his early days he could be found making memories on the Nixon Smiley football field and as time passed, whether he was holding a fishing rod in his hand, manning his grill, or whisking the love of his life, Lucia, off onto the dance floor, Alfredo took joy in the everyday moments and created memories that will last more than a lifetime.  He was also a shining example of hard work and dedication.  Alfredo was a proud United States Army Veteran and member of the American Legion Post 547.  He served in the Vietnam era from 1962-1965, where he was an Army medic and received an Expert Rifle Medal.  He was also a man of faith, attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Nixon, Texas, where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.  Alfredo’s heart was as big as his personality, loving fiercely and giving selflessly to those he cared about.

Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano & Elvira Posada, and his siblings, Rosa Cantu, Dolores Posada, Oscar Posada, and Herminia Espinoza.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lucia C. Posada, and his daughters, Jessica Posada Bernal & Elizabeth Posada.  He will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Alice Hernandez, Lily Gaytan and husband, Lee, Sophia Riojas, and Olga Marquez. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his laughter, love, and boundless joy will live on in the hearts of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A memorial service at the Latin American Cemetery  will be held at a later date.  The Posada family would like to thank the community for their kind words and help in keeping Alfredo’s beautiful memories alive.
